Natural Cure for Headache – Get Rid of the Pain the Healthy Way

“Oh, my poor aching head!” There are few things in the world worse than a splitting headache, and even the most intelligent and athletic people will be laid low when a headache sets in. That pounding behind your eyes can be compared to watching your least favorite movie for the 50th time in a row, and most people would rather hear 50 babies crying at once rather than experience a serious migraine. In this post we’ll go through the natural cure for headache and how to avoid them.

The reality is that headaches affect everyone, no matter how healthy you are. Anyone who spends a lot of time staring at a computer screen, sitting in traffic, or not getting enough sleep will deal with headaches, not to mention the poor sufferers that experience migraines on a regular basis.

Want to deal with the splitting pain in your head the right way?

Get a Massage with Essential Oils

There’s nothing like a good massage to help soothe the aches and pains in your body, and a rub down will help to relax your body and reduce the “ouch” factor. Adding essential oils to the gentle pressure on your face and head will actually make the massage more effective, and you’d be amazed at how useful these essential oils can be.

Chamomile isn’t just great in tea, but it will help to relax your muscles. Lavender may be a womanly oil, but all men will want the natural pain relief provided by the massage oil. Clary sage will help to slow down your heart’s beating, and it will work wonders to reduce the tension that has accumulated – and which is responsible for the sharp pain in your throbbing head.

Take a Shower

Did you know that standing in your shower will help to get rid of your headache? It may drive up your ho water bill, but it’s worth it just to get rid of the pounding that’s threatening to shatter your skull. Turn the water to the hottest temperature that your body can handle, and place your poor head under the flow for two minutes.

Turn the water to the coldest setting, and try not to scream like a little girl as you let the cold water run over your head for two minutes. Switch between hot and cold for 20 minutes, and you’ll be amazed at how effective this hydrotherapy can be. It will help to stimulate blood flow to your head and reduce swelling, and your headache will disappear as if by magic!

Consider Acu-Treatments

If you have a headache, you can try a bit of acupressure as a solution for your pain. Press the soft tissue stretching from your forefinger to your thumb, as that’s a spot that can help to reduce pain when it’s pressed. Stick your thumb in your mouth, and press on the cheekbone on the side of your face where the pain is located.

Breathe deeply as you use both thumbs to press on your palate (the roof of your mouth), and you’ll help to alleviate the pain. If these things don’t work, it may be time to get yourself to an acupuncture or acupressure clinic for some more serious treatments.

Sticking needles in your body may not be the ideal method of dealing with pain, but you’d be amazed at how effective acupuncture can be for dealing with pain (it helped me deal with my lower back pain!).

Drink Up

Did you know that your headache may just be the result of thirst? It may be time to drink a couple of liters of water, and your headache can be treated without having to reach for the Ibuprofen or Aspirin thanks to a few glasses of sky juice. Try and drink plenty of water every day, and avoid coffee, soda, diet soda, and anything else that will require your body to flush itself out.

Adding some natural juice to your diet can help to give you some more nutrients, and it will be a tasty way to get more liquids to fight those pesky headaches.

Eat the Right Foods

Your headaches may be caused by tension in the veins around your head, shoulders, and neck, which is the result of too much stress. Try and eat foods that will help to dilate the blood vessels and let the blood flow more easily. Food like avocadoes, wheat germ, and almonds can have a wonderful effect on your headaches thanks to their high Vitamin E content.

Stretch it Out

If your neck muscles are very tense, they’ll cause headaches by stopping your blood from flowing to your head properly. Stretch out the muscles, and watch the pain disappear. Start your stretch by looking at the floor and relaxing your head for a couple of minutes, and place your hands on your head to add a bit more pressure to the stretch.

Let your arms and head hang for a minute or two, and slowly bring your head back into position to feel the headache drain away with the tension.
