Designed to be compact, the appliance takes up far less space on your kitchen counters. Removing the basket for cleaning made easy thanks to the magnets keeping it in place–no tools necessary.
What is the Breville BJE200XL?
Breville has made a name for itself in recent years as one of the top manufacturers of juicers, and the Breville BJE200XL is one of the reasons why.
The compact juice fountain is ideal for those with smaller kitchens, but it still spits out juice at an excellent rate thanks to the powerful motor. With its centered knife blade assembly, the juicer uses centrifugal force to extract the juice.
The pulp passes through a micromesh filter, squeezing all drops of liquid but leaving the thick fiber in the container. Thanks to the extra-large feed tube, you can juice entire fruits and vegetables without the need to peel, core, or chop them!
Breville BJE200XL Detailed Review
Here is the review of the different aspects of the Breville BJE200XL. Click on each title to expand them
Design & Build Quality - 5/5
When it comes to appearance, the Breville BJE200XL is at the head of its class. Sleek, curvaceous, and elegant, it’s a juicer that will look great sitting on your kitchen counter.
Breville is known for making durable, long-lasting juicers, and this one is no different. Reviewers have commented on the juicer’s longevity, with at least 2 to 3 years of daily use before serious problems arise with the juicer.
Juice Quality & Yield - 4/5
While not as good as a masticating juicer, this compact juice fountain has a great juice yield. The pulp residue is surprisingly dry, indicating that the juicer extracted most of the liquid.
The Breville BJE200XL matches the other Breville juicers in terms of yield, though perhaps not in quality. There is foam on the top of the juice and it can tend to be a bit coarse, but the high speed of the motor prevents excess oxidation of the fresh juices.
Power & Noise - 5/5
With a 700-Watt motor, you get a solid 14,000 RPM with this compact juicer. It has been known to slice through flesh, ligament, and even bone, so KEEP YOUR HANDS WELL AWAY!
You’ll be surprised by how silently the Breville BJE200XL runs. It will be running in the kitchen, but your spouse or kids a few rooms over won’t be able to hear it. The Breville BJE200XL is much quieter than any blender, or even some of the other brands of juicers.
Ease of Use - 5/5
With its one-button operation, the juicer is surprisingly easy to use. Simply flick the switch to “On”, and let the appliance work its magic. The design of the feed tube ensures that fruits and vegetables can be inserted whole, and the blades will actually drag the food downward–eliminating the need for a tamper.
Cleaning it up - 3.5/5
One of the drawbacks of the powerful motor is that the blades tend to shoot the food back up, so it’s wise to cover the hole with the tamper or your hand when the blades are spinning. If you fail to cover the top of the feed tube, you may end up with a big mess–on the roof, the walls, your clothes, etc.
To clean the juicer itself is a cinch, thanks to the snap-locking mechanisms holding it in place. It uses magnets to hold the juicer in place, so you won’t need tools to take it apart. Most reviewers have reported an average cleaning time of 2 to 3 minutes.
The juice has a tendency to drip onto the spinning blades, and there is the common problem of pulp and juice getting stuck in the seam between container and base. Some reviews commented on the difficulty of cleaning the base of the wire mesh basket.
Reliability - 4/5
The powerful motor is both a benefit and a drawback, as the high power tends to overwork the motor when juicing. Some users have commented on the fuses burning out after a year or so of use, but the fix is quick and easy. Should the juicer break down, it is covered by a 1-year warranty.
The juice leaking onto the blades can get into the motor, causing a burnout or short circuit (but that's extremely rare).
Price - 4/5
The Breville BJE200XL is on sale on Amazon for $99.95, though the list price is $150. Compared to many other juicers on the market, it is a fairly pricey appliance.
However, when compared to the other Breville appliances, it’s one of the more affordable models. When talking about value for money, it’s about par for the course. You can find cheaper juicers that won’t last as long, or costlier juicers that are better and more reliable.
How Does It Compare?
Let’s take a look at some of the Breville BJE200XL’s competition:
Hamilton Beach 67608A Big Mouth Juice Extractor — This juicer comes with the same wide feed tube, and an 800-watt motor. While not as easy to clean or durable as the Breville juicers, it’s a more user-friendly, affordable ($59.85 on Amazon) juicer.
Sensio Bella Kitchen Juice Extractor 15210 — This juicer costs about the same as the Breville BJE200XL ($109.99 on Amazon), but it’s just not quite as easy to clean or use. It just doesn’t meet the same standard of excellence as the Breville BJE200XL.
Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer — This sleek juicer looks amazing on your kitchen counter, and has a much better juice yield than the Breville BJE200XL. As a masticating juicer, the juice is much fresher and tastier, but the juicer is more than twice the price– $257.99.
Should I buy the Breville BJE200XL?
If you are willing to drop $100 on a juicer, this may be the compact juice fountain for you. It’s ideal for anyone in a hurry, as the large feed tube makes it easy to get a full glass of juice in a matter of minutes. Plus, with its short cleaning time, you can get in, get juicing, and get out quickly!
This compact, super-powered juicer is the one to buy if you want to make juice in a hurry, and don’t mind paying a bit more. With its sleek design and user-friendly controls, it yields an excellent amount of juice in a short amount of time. Despite its few problems, it’s worth the price.
