Another study conducted on both mice and humans and published in the journal Cell Metabolism, concluded that those on a high-protein diet were 9 percent more likely to die of cancer than those on a low-protein diet. Therefore it is important not to exceed the recommended daily intake of protein, even if you are a fitness fanatic or athlete.
Moreover, The Institute of Medicine also recommends that this total amount of daily protein does not exceed 35% of your total calories daily. This is why many people choose to get a large percentage of their daily protein intake from protein powder. It’s not only easily and quickly absorbed by the body, but also significantly less calorific than many food sources.
How to Choose a Protein Powder
When choosing a protein powder, you need to look for an option which gives you a good dose of protein per serving (around 30 grams) but is low on calories and fat. Also, a protein powder with a good amino acid profile is a bonus.
